
Kristina Austin Scarcelli made her vocal debut at the age of two, when her parents first recorded her singing pop songs, and she has been singing and playing music ever since. Kristina holds a B.A. degree in communication and music and has studied musical theatre, jazz, and Bel Canto methodology.
Kristina was Mrs. Michigan United States 2006 and was a special award winner at the nationally televised Mrs. United States Pageant. She is also a former Miss Ohio runner-up with a near miss at a chance at the Miss America title.
Kristina has worked as a professional vocalist and musician since 1992. She sings regularly at upscale venues, corporate functions, fairs, festivals, and private parties and enjoys performing and recording country, Americana, and torch jazz music. Kristina is an accomplished flutist and piccoloist and also enjoys playing fife and pennywhistle.
She participated in a USO tour of Asia performing 86 concerts for American military personnel and has performed at The Opryland Hotel and The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
Kristina has opened for numerous national acts and has appeared on the nationally televised broadcasts of America's Thanksgiving Parade and the Nashville Network. She also had a role in a Lafontaine Automotive Group television commercial on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 (ABC) and has been heard on W4 Country 102.9 FM and 99.5 FM WYCD's Dr. Don Show in Detroit, WTCM Newstalk AM 580 in Traverse City, WFBE FM 95.1 in Flint, and 93.5 FM WRQN in Toledo, Ohio to name a few.
Kristina has performed as National Anthem singer for such events as the Ford Motor Company / AAA Student Auto Skills National Challenge held at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, the Michigan Veterans Festival, the Detroit WalkAmerica at Hart Plaza, on the Fox Sports network for the Detroit Shock (WNBA) at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and for the Detroit Tigers and Toledo Mudhens. She was featured performer at the Hockey Has Heart Black Tie Celebrity Gala honoring Detroit Red Wings' owners Mike and Marian Ilitch and former Detroit Red Wings' coach Scotty Bowman.

Her original music has received U.S. airplay on Gavin-reporting FM radio stations and made the Top 40 indie charts in Europe. On Mp3.com, Kristina's music hit the Top 50 worldwide. Kristina won three Miss America Local Grand Talent Awards as well as the Miss America Quality of Life Award. She was also Hilton Hotel's Star Search '92 Female Vocalist Champion.
Kristina is committed to her community outreach efforts on behalf of American veterans and also enjoys speaking at schools, museums, and for history-related events. Her "Making a Mark" presentation focuses on the importance of the role we each play in maintaining our genealogical legacies for the enrichment of future generations.
She also channels her passion for history into her "Daughter of the 24th Michigan" blog, which features articles on Michigan history, genealogy, American Civil War news, 19th and 20th century Americana music, and much more. Through her blog, she hopes to not only share her pride in her heritage but also to install in others a passion for history and provide a source of educational and thought-provoking information on Michigan's rich past. The "Daughter of the 24th Michigan" blog is recognized by the Civil War Trust, a national organization committed to the restoration and preservation of America's Civil War battlefields.
A sixth-generation Michigander whose ancestors first came to Detroit in the 1840s, Kristina is a member of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861 - 1865, the Austin Families Association of America, Austin Families Genealogical Society, and has been a governor-appointed Honorable Kentucky Colonel for 20 years. In conjunction with the Michigan Civil War Sesquicentennial, Kristina plans to be active as a civilian Civil War reenactor and living historian. Her future goal is to become a historical novelist and screenplay writer.
Kristina enjoys photography and graphic arts and distributes her line of photographic calendars, art prints, and graphic apparel and gifts in her Cafepress store. She also enjoys working in live theatrical productions and has been the Executive Director and Producer of the Mrs. Michigan United States Pageant since 2007.
